These days, Joel can be found playing hand drums and other percussion toys. He hosts an Afro-Caribbean drum circle at his home on Tuesday evenings and welcomes anyone who would like to drop by. 
 
Being from Athens, Georgia, Joel was exposed to various bands in the early 70’s and 80’s that he occasionally had the opportunity to sit in with.  Also, at the behest of his mother, he studied piano in his childhood. 
 
Professionally, Joel does studio work, is featured on a number of CDs and plays with local bands - Railroad Earth and We Want To Come Live At Your House.  Joel joins the Concert 2 Cure project as the official “Webmaster” and dedicates his work on this project to all those affected directly or indirectly by cancer.
