David's drive comes not only from his own fight with cancer, but also from the fact that one-fifth of his family has been hit directly by this disease. Recently his Uncle Peter, whom he loved dearly, died suddenly from cancer, which has further invigorated his efforts to work towards the prevention and cure of cancer worldwide.
 
Soon after David's own treatment of cancer, he and four of his closest friends held the, "Riding to the Moon" tour, a  motorcycle journey from California to the southern tip of South America to benefit the American Cancer Society. This trip was testament that you can have cancer, be cured of it, and go on to live an extraordinary life.
 
The American Cancer Society, which was pivotal in David’s own treatment in 1992, continues to be the greatest resource for prevention and cure.  David remains devoted to this life-saving organization.
