doubleDrive's been going double-time. Even before inking with MCA, the Atlanta-based quartet toured the South ‹ packing up to 500 fans into a club ‹ without a record deal. Then doubleDrive won the title of Atlanta's "favorite heavy/extreme" band, you guessed it, without a record deal.

Now, armed with an MCA deal and a commanding debut in 1000 Yard Stare, there's no stopping them. doubleDrive create a uniquely compelling brand of dynamic, intense rock, all coupled with a grass-roots work ethic bred of blood, sweat and beers.

With a vibe and intensity reminiscent of Soundgarden or Monster Magnet, however, doubleDrive are their own band: heart, soul, anger, quietude and all-out rock power are all present ‹ often within one song. After one listen to their dozen-song debut ‹ the songs ranging from the stunning title track, "1000 Yard Stare" to the percussive dynamics of "Belief System" to the ultra melodic intensity of "Tattooed Bruise" to a cool and unexpected cover of Wall of Voodoo's "Mexican Radio," it's impossible to turn away from doubleDrive's mesmerizing 1000 Yard Stare.
